- Prep Time: 15 minutes
- Cook Time: 20 minutes
- Total Time: 35 minutes
- Yield: 4 wraps 1x
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 large flour tortillas
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup salsa
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 medium tomato, diced
- 1 avocado, sliced (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the finely chopped onion. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.
- Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
- Next, add the ground beef to the skillet. Use a wooden spoon to break it apart as it cooks. Stir occasionally until the beef is browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
- Once the beef is cooked, drain any excess fat from the skillet.
- Season the beef mixture with chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine all the spices evenly throughout the meat. Let it cook for another 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese until melted and well combined with the beef mixture.
- While the beef filling is cooling slightly, prepare the tortillas by heating them in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side, or microwave them for about 10-15 seconds until warm.
- Lay the warm tortillas flat on a clean surface or a large plate.
- Start by placing a generous scoop of the cheesy ground beef mixture in the center of each tortilla.
- Add a dollop of sour cream on top of the beef mixture.
- Sprinkle some shredded lettuce over the sour cream, followed by diced tomatoes. If using avocado, add a few slices on top as well.
- Roll up the wraps by folding the sides of the tortilla inward over the filling, then rolling from the bottom up to enclose the filling completely. Roll tightly to keep everything inside.
- Repeat this process for the remaining tortillas and filling.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. You can add a little olive oil to the skillet if you like.
- Once the skillet is hot, place the wraps seam-side down in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.
- Carefully flip the wraps over and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side until it’s also golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the wraps from the skillet and place them on a cutting board. Let them cool for a minute before slicing them in half diagonally for serving.
Notes
- Feel free to customize the fillings with your favorite vegetables or additional toppings.
- These wraps can be served with salsa on the side for dipping.
