  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 6-8 servings 1x

Description

Pizza meets tacos in this fun, easy meal! Crispy crust topped with refried beans, seasoned ground beef, cheese, and your favorite taco toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 (15 ounce) can refried beans
  • 1 (16 ounce) can refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • Sour cream, for serving
  • Salsa, for serving
  • Optional toppings: jalapenos, avocado, lettuce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Taco Meat: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Sprinkle the taco seasoning packet over the browned beef. Pour in the 1/2 cup of water. Stir well.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Prepare the Pizza Dough: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a large baking sheet or pizza pan.
  5. Stretch or roll out the pizza dough to fit your baking sheet.
  6. Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet.
  7. (Optional) Pre-bake the dough for 5-7 minutes for a crispier crust.
  8. Assemble the Taco Pizza: Spread the refried beans evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a small border.
  9. Spoon the cooked taco meat over the refried beans, spreading it evenly.
  10. Sprinkle both the cheddar cheese and Monterey Jack cheese evenly over the taco meat.
  11. Add any optional toppings that need to be cooked (e.g., jalapenos).
  12. Bake the Taco Pizza: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  13. Remove from oven and place on a wire rack to cool slightly.
  14. Add Fresh Toppings and Serve: Sprinkle the chopped tomatoes, sliced black olives, and chopped green onions over the baked pizza.
  15. Slice and serve immediately with sour cream and salsa. Offer other toppings like avocado, lettuce, or extra cheese.

Notes

  • Spice it up: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the taco meat for extra heat.
  • Use different meats: Try using ground turkey or shredded chicken instead of ground beef.
  • Add beans: Mix black beans or pinto beans into the taco meat for added texture and flavor.
  • Make it vegetarian: Use a vegetarian ground beef substitute or simply load up on veggies.
  • Crust variations: Use a pre-made pizza crust, a flatbread, or even a tortilla for a quick and easy taco pizza.
  • Cheese variations: Use a Mexican cheese blend or pepper jack cheese for a spicier flavor.
  • Make it a party: Set up a taco pizza bar with all the toppings and let everyone customize their own slice.
