Peanut Butter Milkshake: The Ultimate Guide to a Creamy Delight

  • Total Time: 6 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

Creamy, dreamy Peanut Butter Milkshake! This easy recipe combines vanilla ice cream, peanut butter, and milk for a classic treat. Customize with chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and more!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream (high-quality, for best results!)
  • 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter (I prefer natural, but any kind works)
  • 1/2 cup milk (whole milk creates a richer shake, but any milk will do)
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup (optional, but highly recommended!)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (enhances the vanilla flavor)
  • Whipped cream (for topping, optional)
  • Chopped peanuts (for topping, optional)
  • Maraschino cherry (for topping, optional – adds a touch of elegance!)
  • Ice cubes (optional, for a thicker shake)
  • Pinch of salt (balances the sweetness)

Instructions

  1. Combine the Ingredients: In a blender, add the vanilla ice cream, peanut butter, milk, chocolate syrup (if using), vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Add the milk first, then the peanut butter, followed by the ice cream.
  2. Add Ice (Optional): If you prefer a thicker milkshake, add a few ice cubes to the blender. Start with just a few.
  3. Blend Until Smooth: Secure the lid on the blender and blend on medium speed until all the ingredients are completely combined and the milkshake is smooth (30-60 seconds). Stop blending as soon as it’s smooth to avoid over-blending.
  4. Check the Consistency: If it’s too thick, add a little more milk, one tablespoon at a time, and blend again. If it’s too thin, add a small scoop of ice cream and blend again.
  5. Taste and Adjust: Taste the milkshake. If you want it sweeter, add a little more chocolate syrup or a tiny bit of sugar. If you want more peanut butter flavor, add a little more peanut butter.
  6. Pour into a Glass: Carefully pour the peanut butter milkshake into a tall glass. Chill the glass in the freezer for a few minutes beforehand for an extra frosty treat.
  7. Add Whipped Cream (Optional): If desired, top the milkshake with a generous dollop of whipped cream.
  8. Sprinkle with Chopped Peanuts (Optional): Sprinkle chopped peanuts over the whipped cream for added texture and flavor.
  9. Garnish with a Cherry (Optional): Place a maraschino cherry on top of the whipped cream for a classic milkshake presentation.
  10. Serve Immediately: Serve the peanut butter milkshake immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use high-quality ingredients for the best flavor.
  • Experiment with flavors like caramel sauce, cocoa powder, or cinnamon.
  • Make it vegan with vegan ice cream, plant-based milk, and vegan chocolate syrup.
  • Add half a frozen banana for a thicker and more nutritious milkshake.
  • Chop up a peanut butter cup and add it to the blender for an extra indulgent treat.
  • Increase the amount of chocolate syrup or add a tablespoon of cocoa powder for a richer chocolate flavor.
  • Add a tablespoon of salted caramel sauce for a sweet and salty twist.
  • Add a few crushed Oreo cookies to the blender for a cookies and cream flavor.
  • Substitute some of the peanut butter with Nutella for a hazelnut chocolate flavor.
  • Add a shot of peanut butter whiskey or chocolate liqueur for an adult-friendly milkshake. Please drink responsibly!
  • Adjust Sweetness to Taste: Some peanut butters are sweeter than others. Adjust the amount of chocolate syrup or sugar to your liking.
  • Use Frozen Peanut Butter: For an extra thick milkshake, freeze small dollops of peanut butter on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Add the frozen peanut butter to the blender along with the other ingredients.
  • Chill Your Glass: Chilling your glass in the freezer for a few minutes before pouring the milkshake will help keep it cold longer.
  • Don’t Over-Blend: Over-blending can melt the ice cream and result in a watery milkshake. Blend only until the ingredients are combined and smooth.
  • Clean Your Blender Immediately: Peanut butter can be sticky and difficult to clean. Rinse your blender immediately after making the milkshake to prevent the peanut butter from hardening.
