Description
Crispy, healthy air fryer banana chips made with simple ingredients for a delicious, guilt-free snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3–4 slightly green but firm bananas (Cavendish or plantains work well)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted (or any neutral oil like avocado or grapeseed)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
- Pinch of sea salt
- Optional: 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
Instructions
- Peel and Slice: Peel the bananas and slice them into uniform 1/8 inch (3mm) thick slices. A mandoline slicer is recommended.
- Lemon Juice Bath: Toss the banana slices in lemon juice to prevent browning.
- Oil and Spice Infusion: In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted coconut oil, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and honey or maple syrup (if using).
- Coat the Banana Slices: Pour the oil and spice mixture over the banana slices and toss to coat evenly.
- Preheat (Optional): Preheat the air fryer to 300°F (150°C) for 3-5 minutes if your air fryer requires it.
- Arrange in Basket: Arrange the banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Work in batches if needed.
- Air Fry: Air fry at 300°F (150°C) for 12-18 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Check for Doneness: The chips are done when golden brown and slightly crispy.
- Cool Completely: Remove from the air fryer and place on a wire rack to cool completely for maximum crispiness.
- Repeat: Repeat with remaining batches.
