Stuffed Potato Cakes: Delicious Recipes and Tips for Perfecting Your Dish

These crispy stuffed potato cakes are filled with creamy mashed potatoes, cheese, and optional bacon, then coated in breadcrumbs and fried to golden perfection. Perfect as a snack or side dish!

Ingredients

  • Potatoes
  • Cheese
  • Bacon (optional)
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Sour cream (for serving)
  • Your favorite dipping sauce (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil over medium heat. To test if the oil is hot enough, drop a small piece of bread into the oil; if it sizzles, it’s ready.
  2. Carefully add a few potato cakes to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  3. Once cooked, remove the potato cakes from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the filling with your favorite ingredients, such as different cheeses, vegetables, or proteins.
  • For a healthier option, you can bake the potato cakes in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
