Description
These crispy stuffed potato cakes are filled with creamy mashed potatoes, cheese, and optional bacon, then coated in breadcrumbs and fried to golden perfection. Perfect as a snack or side dish!
Ingredients
- Potatoes
- Cheese
- Bacon (optional)
- Breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Sour cream (for serving)
- Your favorite dipping sauce (for serving)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil over medium heat. To test if the oil is hot enough, drop a small piece of bread into the oil; if it sizzles, it’s ready.
- Carefully add a few potato cakes to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Once cooked, remove the potato cakes from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
Notes
- Feel free to customize the filling with your favorite ingredients, such as different cheeses, vegetables, or proteins.
- For a healthier option, you can bake the potato cakes in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
