Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound of boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)
  • 1/2 cup of honey
  • 1/2 cup of BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the chicken breasts under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. Slice the chicken breasts into strips, about 1 inch wide.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk the two large eggs until well combined.
  5. Place the breadcrumbs in another bowl.
  6. Coat each chicken strip in the seasoned flour mixture, shaking off excess flour.
  7. Dip the floured chicken strip into the egg mixture, ensuring it is fully coated.
  8. Roll the chicken strip in the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere. Repeat for all strips.
  9. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or olive oil.
  10. Arrange the breaded chicken strips on the baking sheet in a single layer, ensuring they are not touching.
  11. Drizzle a tablespoon of olive oil over the chicken strips.
  12. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F/75°C).
  13. In a small saucepan, combine honey and BBQ sauce over medium heat, stirring until well combined and heated through (3-5 minutes).
  14. Remove the sauce from heat and set aside.
  15. Once the chicken strips are done, let them cool for a couple of minutes.
  16. In a large mixing bowl, add the baked chicken strips and pour the honey BBQ sauce over them. Toss gently to coat.
  17. Transfer the coated chicken strips to a serving platter and garnish with freshly chopped parsley if desired.
  18. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces on the side.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding spices or herbs to the breadcrumbs.
  • Adjust the sweetness of the sauce by adding more honey or BBQ sauce to taste.
