  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 tablespoons milk (as needed for consistency)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Carefully remove the Hawaiian rolls from the packaging without pulling them apart.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix until smooth.
  4. Stir in the ground cinnamon until evenly distributed.
  5. If using, chop the nuts and add them to the mixture along with the raisins. Stir to combine.
  6. Pour half of the sticky mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  7. Gently pull apart the Hawaiian rolls and place them in the baking dish, side by side.
  8. Pour the remaining sticky mixture over the top of the rolls, drizzling it evenly.
  9. Sprinkle any leftover nuts or raisins on top.
  10. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  12. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbling.
  13. Let cool for 5-10 minutes before inverting onto a serving platter.
  14. In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and 1 tablespoon of milk.
  15. Beat until smooth and creamy, adding more milk if necessary for desired consistency.
  16. Invert the baking dish onto a large plate or serving platter.
  17. Drizzle the cream cheese glaze over the sticky buns generously.
