Perfect for any time of day, you can enhance it with crispy bacon and a drizzle of honey or maple syrup for an extra flavor boost. This indulgent treat is sure to satisfy your cravings!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 glazed donuts (preferably fresh)
  • 4 slices of cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite)
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • Optional: 2 slices of crispy bacon
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon of honey or maple syrup for drizzling
  • Optional: Fresh herbs (like basil or chives) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Select fresh, soft glazed donuts and slice each one in half horizontally to create a top and bottom for your sandwich.
  2. Choose your cheese (cheddar and mozzarella work well) and lay out two slices for each donut half. If using bacon, cook it until crispy and set aside.
  3. On one half of a donut, place two slices of cheese. If using bacon, add it on top of the cheese. Place the other half of the donut on top to create your sandwich. Repeat for the second donut.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Spread butter evenly on the outer sides of each donut sandwich. Place the first sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown and cheese starts to melt. Flip and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes.
  5. Remove sandwiches from the skillet and let cool for a minute. Drizzle with honey or maple syrup if desired, and sprinkle with fresh herbs for garnish.
  6. Cut each sandwich in half diagonally and serve with fresh fruit or a simple salad. For a fun twist, pair with a spicy dipping sauce or tomato soup.

Notes

  • Experiment with different types of donuts for varied flavors.
  • Add sautéed onions or jalapeños for a savory twist.
  • For a healthier option, use whole grain or low-sugar donuts and lower-fat cheese.
  • Mini versions can be made using donut holes for appetizers.
