Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for the filling)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for spreading)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon until well blended.
- In another bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until combined.
- Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon.
- Spread the softened butter evenly over the top of the dough in the mixing bowl.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the buttered dough and gently press it in.
- Fold the dough over itself a few times to create layers, incorporating the cinnamon sugar.
- Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and transfer the dough, smoothing the top.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cover with foil if browning too quickly.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Whisk together powdered sugar and milk until smooth, adjusting milk for desired consistency.
- Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread and let it set for a few minutes.
- Slice the bread into thick pieces and serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy it for breakfast, brunch, or as a delightful snack.
Notes
- Ensure the melted butter is not too hot to avoid cooking the eggs.
- Adjust the glaze consistency by varying the amount of milk used.
