Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for the filling)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for spreading)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon until well blended.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until combined.
  4. Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  5. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon.
  6. Spread the softened butter evenly over the top of the dough in the mixing bowl.
  7. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the buttered dough and gently press it in.
  8. Fold the dough over itself a few times to create layers, incorporating the cinnamon sugar.
  9. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and transfer the dough, smoothing the top.
  10. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cover with foil if browning too quickly.
  11. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. Whisk together powdered sugar and milk until smooth, adjusting milk for desired consistency.
  13. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread and let it set for a few minutes.
  14. Slice the bread into thick pieces and serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy it for breakfast, brunch, or as a delightful snack.
