Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups Chex cereal (any combination of rice, corn, or wheat)
- 2 cups pretzel sticks
- 2 cups mixed nuts (your choice, but cashews and almonds are recommended)
- 1 cup bagel chips, broken into pieces
- 1 cup dill pickle chips, drained and chopped
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/4 cup dill pickle juice
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon dried dill weed
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional, for a smoky flavor)
- 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the Chex cereal, pretzel sticks, mixed nuts, and bagel chips. Mix gently to avoid breaking the Chex.
- Add the chopped dill pickle chips to the bowl and gently fold them into the mix.
- In a separate bowl, melt the unsalted butter in the microwave or on the stovetop, being careful not to let it bubble.
- Once melted, add the dill pickle juice, garlic powder, onion powder, dried dill weed, smoked paprika (if using), salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well combined.
- Pour the buttery seasoning mixture over the Chex mix in the large bowl. Use a spatula to gently toss everything together until evenly coated.
- Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Spread the Chex mix evenly across the baking sheet in a single layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes for even baking.
- After 1 hour, remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet. It will continue to crisp up as it cools.
- Once cooled, transfer the Chex mix to an airtight container. It can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
- Serve in a large bowl, garnished with whole dill pickles or sprigs of fresh dill if desired.
Notes
- Feel free to customize the nuts and snacks based on your preferences.
- For an extra kick, consider adding a dash of cayenne pepper or your favorite hot sauce to the seasoning mixture.
