Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups Chex cereal (any combination of rice, corn, or wheat)
  • 2 cups pretzel sticks
  • 2 cups mixed nuts (your choice, but cashews and almonds are recommended)
  • 1 cup bagel chips, broken into pieces
  • 1 cup dill pickle chips, drained and chopped
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup dill pickle juice
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried dill weed
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional, for a smoky flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the Chex cereal, pretzel sticks, mixed nuts, and bagel chips. Mix gently to avoid breaking the Chex.
  3. Add the chopped dill pickle chips to the bowl and gently fold them into the mix.
  4. In a separate bowl, melt the unsalted butter in the microwave or on the stovetop, being careful not to let it bubble.
  5. Once melted, add the dill pickle juice, garlic powder, onion powder, dried dill weed, smoked paprika (if using), salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well combined.
  6. Pour the buttery seasoning mixture over the Chex mix in the large bowl. Use a spatula to gently toss everything together until evenly coated.
  7. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  8. Spread the Chex mix evenly across the baking sheet in a single layer.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes for even baking.
  10. After 1 hour, remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet. It will continue to crisp up as it cools.
  11. Once cooled, transfer the Chex mix to an airtight container. It can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
  12. Serve in a large bowl, garnished with whole dill pickles or sprigs of fresh dill if desired.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the nuts and snacks based on your preferences.
  • For an extra kick, consider adding a dash of cayenne pepper or your favorite hot sauce to the seasoning mixture.
