Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup buttermilk, at room temperature
- 2 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for the swirl)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray, or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together melted butter, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter and gently swirl it in with a knife or skewer.
- Pour the remaining batter on top and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture on top and create a light swirl.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Tent with foil if browning too quickly.
- Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes.
- Run a knife around the edges and invert the pan to release the loaf onto a wire rack. Let cool completely.
- In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Adjust consistency as desired.
- Drizzle the glaze over the cooled loaf and let it set for a few minutes before slicing.
- Slice the loaf and enjoy!
