Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried parsley)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Flour, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Lightly flour your countertop or a large cutting board.
- Let the pizza dough sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes, then roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Slice the dough into strips about 1 inch wide and 6 inches long (approximately 12 strips).
- Place about 1 tablespoon of shredded mozzarella cheese at one end of each strip. Optionally, sprinkle a little grated Parmesan cheese.
- Roll the dough strip tightly into a knot shape, twisting it a couple of times for decoration. Tuck the ends underneath to seal in the cheese.
- Continue with the remaining strips of dough and place the knots on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter without browning it.
- Stir in the minced garlic, chopped parsley, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper into the melted butter.
- Generously coat each garlic knot with the garlic butter mixture using a pastry brush.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
- Let the knots cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Brush with any remaining garlic butter right after they come out of the oven.
- Transfer to a serving platter and garnish with extra parsley if desired. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and warm the knots on a baking sheet for about 5-10 minutes.
