Instructions
- Preparing the Crust:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Whisk until mixed.
- Add softened butter and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased 8×8-inch baking pan.
- Bake for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
- Preparing the Filling:
- In a large bowl, combine brown sugar and corn syrup. Stir until blended.
- Add melted butter, then eggs and vanilla. Whisk until smooth.
- If desired, fold in raisins or pecans.
- Assembling the Butter Tart Squares:
- Remove the crust from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
- Pour the filling over the warm crust and spread evenly.
- Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes until set and edges are golden.
- Let cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
- Cutting and Serving:
- Once cooled, cut into squares and serve.
