Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups peeled and diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 package (16 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the diced apples, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, lemon juice, cornstarch, and nutmeg (if using). Stir until the apples are well coated.
- Let the mixture sit for about 10-15 minutes to allow the apples to release their juices and the sugar to dissolve.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Open the package of crescent roll dough and unroll it on a clean surface, separating it into triangles.
- Using a rolling pin, gently roll out each triangle to flatten it slightly.
- Take a spoonful of the apple filling (about 1-2 tablespoons) and place it in the center of each flattened crescent triangle.
- Fold the sides of the triangle over the filling, then roll it up from the wide end to the point, tucking in the sides as you go.
- Place the assembled bombs seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the tops of the bombs with the beaten egg.
- In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter and brown sugar, then drizzle this mixture over the tops of the bombs.
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the bombs are golden brown and puffed up.
- Once baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes.
- Transfer the bombs to a serving platter and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- For an extra flavor boost, consider adding a pinch of vanilla extract to the apple filling.
- These Apple Pie Bombs are best served warm, but they can also be enjoyed at room temperature.
