Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 package (16 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the diced apples, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, lemon juice, cornstarch, and nutmeg (if using). Stir until the apples are well coated.
  2. Let the mixture sit for about 10-15 minutes to allow the apples to release their juices and the sugar to dissolve.
  3. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Open the package of crescent roll dough and unroll it on a clean surface, separating it into triangles.
  5. Using a rolling pin, gently roll out each triangle to flatten it slightly.
  6. Take a spoonful of the apple filling (about 1-2 tablespoons) and place it in the center of each flattened crescent triangle.
  7. Fold the sides of the triangle over the filling, then roll it up from the wide end to the point, tucking in the sides as you go.
  8. Place the assembled bombs seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Brush the tops of the bombs with the beaten egg.
  10. In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter and brown sugar, then drizzle this mixture over the tops of the bombs.
  11. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the bombs are golden brown and puffed up.
  12. Once baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes.
  13. Transfer the bombs to a serving platter and dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  • For an extra flavor boost, consider adding a pinch of vanilla extract to the apple filling.
  • These Apple Pie Bombs are best served warm, but they can also be enjoyed at room temperature.
