Desserts & Sweets / Starbucks Pumpkin Scones

Starbucks Pumpkin Scones

April 28, 2025 by WillowDesserts & Sweets

Soft, warmly spiced, and topped with a sweet glaze — these pumpkin scones taste just like the ones from Starbucks, but even better homemade!

???? Ingredients

For the Scones:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 6 tbsp cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin purée (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

For the Spiced Drizzle (optional but extra delicious):

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of nutmeg, cloves, and ginger

????‍???? Instructions

Make the Scones:

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger.

Cut in the cold butter with a pastry cutter or two knives until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.

In a separate bowl, whisk together pumpkin purée, milk, egg, and vanilla.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined (don’t overmix).

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Pat into a circle about 1-inch thick.
Cut into 8 triangles.

Place scones on the baking sheet, slightly apart.

Bake for 14–16 minutes, until the tops are set and slightly golden. Cool completely before glazing.

Make the Glaze:

Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
Dip the tops of the cooled scones into the glaze or drizzle it over with a spoon.

Make the Spiced Drizzle:

Whisk all ingredients together and drizzle over the glazed scones for that signature Starbucks look!

✨ To Serve:

Let the glaze set for about 30 minutes — if you can wait that long — then enjoy with a hot coffee or pumpkin spice latte! ☕????
