Cheesy Taco Sticks: A Delicious Twist on Your Favorite Snack

Cheesy Taco Sticks are a delightful twist on traditional tacos, featuring a creamy, cheesy filling wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough. Ideal for parties or a quick weeknight meal, these tasty treats are customizable and can be made ahead of time for convenience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8 oz) of cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
  • Cooking spray or olive oil for greasing
  • Additional salsa for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or turkey. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  2. Sprinkle taco seasoning over the meat, add 1/4 cup of water, and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until thickened.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and mozzarella until well combined.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Unroll crescent roll dough on a clean surface and cut into triangles (about 4 inches wide).
  5. Place a spoonful of the cheesy filling at the wide end of each triangle and roll up, tucking in the sides to seal. Place seam-side down on a greased baking sheet.
  6. Lightly spray the tops with cooking spray or brush with olive oil. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
  7. Let cool for a few minutes, then transfer to a serving platter. Top with green onions and cilantro, and serve with salsa.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the filling by adding other ingredients like black beans, corn, or jalapeños for extra flavor.
  • These taco sticks can be made ahead of time and frozen before baking. Just bake them straight from the freezer, adding a few extra minutes to the cooking time.
  • For a vegetarian option, substitute the meat with a mix of beans and vegetables.
