Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (8 oz) of cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 cup salsa
- 1/2 cup chopped green onions (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
- Cooking spray or olive oil for greasing
- Additional salsa for serving
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or turkey. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Sprinkle taco seasoning over the meat, add 1/4 cup of water, and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and mozzarella until well combined.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Unroll crescent roll dough on a clean surface and cut into triangles (about 4 inches wide).
- Place a spoonful of the cheesy filling at the wide end of each triangle and roll up, tucking in the sides to seal. Place seam-side down on a greased baking sheet.
- Lightly spray the tops with cooking spray or brush with olive oil. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
- Let cool for a few minutes, then transfer to a serving platter. Top with green onions and cilantro, and serve with salsa.
Notes
- Feel free to customize the filling by adding other ingredients like black beans, corn, or jalapeños for extra flavor.
- These taco sticks can be made ahead of time and frozen before baking. Just bake them straight from the freezer, adding a few extra minutes to the cooking time.
- For a vegetarian option, substitute the meat with a mix of beans and vegetables.
