Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef Burritos:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef

  • 1/2 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 1/2 tsp paprika

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 1/2 cup salsa or taco sauce (optional)

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar or Mexican cheese blend

  • 4 large flour tortillas

  • Optional fillings: sour cream, lettuce, diced tomatoes, jalapeños, refried beans

For the Crispy Fries:

  • 34 medium potatoes (or use frozen fries)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Optional: paprika, dried herbs for extra flavor

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fries:

    • Oven Method: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Cut potatoes into thin fries, toss with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Spread on a baking sheet and bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden and crispy.

    • Air Fryer: Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 15–20 minutes, shaking halfway.

    • Frozen Fries: Cook according to package instructions.

  2. Cook the Beef Filling:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and onion until browned. Drain excess fat. Add garlic and cook 1 minute more. Stir in spices, water, and salsa or taco sauce (if using). Simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.

  3. Assemble the Burritos:
Warm tortillas. Spoon beef mixture down the center, top with shredded cheese and any optional fillings. Fold in the sides and roll up tightly.

  4. Toast the Burritos (Optional):
Heat a dry skillet over medium heat and toast each burrito for 1–2 minutes per side until golden and crispy.

  5. Serve:
Plate the burritos with a generous side of crispy fries. Serve with extra cheese, salsa, or dipping sauces if desired.

Notes

  • Stuff the Fries Inside: For a bold twist, add some crispy fries inside the burrito before wrapping.

  • Make it Spicy: Add chopped jalapeños or a few dashes of hot sauce to the beef.

  • Meal Prep Friendly: Wrap burritos individually in foil and refrigerate or freeze. Reheat in a skillet or oven.

  • Cheese Options: Use a mix of cheddar, Monterey Jack, or even nacho cheese sauce for extra indulgence.

  • Extra Crunch: Add crushed tortilla chips inside for texture.
